Hijrah: MUSWEN, ADSN, MCLS urge Nigerians to unite

The Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria and Muslim Community of Lagos State (MCLS) yesterday called on Nigerians to renew their dedication to fostering unity, promoting peaceful coexistence, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

These was contained in their separate Islamic New Year (Hijra 1447 AH) messages.

MUSWEN in a statement by its President Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo and Executive Secretary Prof Muslih 鈥楾ayo Yahya, enjoined Nigerians, irrespective of faith, to join hands in building a nation anchored on justice, equity, and mutual respect, while praying for global peace and prosperity in the new Islamic year.

The duo urged Muslims across Nigeria and beyond to seek divine guidance, peace, and progress for the country and the global community as the New Year commences.

The organization urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for divine intervention in addressing the challenges facing Nigeria and the world, including insecurity, economic hardships, and global conflicts.

鈥淲e urge leaders at all levels鈥攔eligious, political, and traditional鈥攖o embody the spirit of compassion and justice in their actions. In these challenging times, leadership rooted in empathy and fairness is essential for fostering peace, progress, and unity in our society,鈥 MUSWEN said.

MCLS President, Alhaji Muhammed Danmole, advised Muslims to 鈥減urify our intentions, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, uphold peace, and contribute positively to our communities. We also pray for continued guidance, protection, and mercy from Allah upon our state, our leaders, our families, and the entire Ummah.

鈥淭he Hijrah reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions as they migrated for the sake of preserving their religion. It is a time for reflection, renewal of faith, and a recommitment to living by the principles of Islam: justice, compassion, truthfulness, and unity.鈥

ADSN National President, Prince Mosediq Kazeem, SAN, said: 鈥淭oday, as we ponder and reflect on the significance of Hijrah, we cannot ignore the numerous trials facing our nation and our world 鈥 rising insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, hunger, and the pervasive sense of uncertainty, particularly among our youths.

鈥淟et this new Islamic year be a moment of renewed intention 鈥 to strengthen our connection with Allah, to serve our communities, and to uphold the noble values of Islam: justice, mercy, brotherhood, and sincere reliance on Allah.

鈥淲e call upon our leaders to prioritise justice, good governance, and equitable policies that alleviate poverty, create employment opportunities, and promote lasting peace.鈥

The organization hailed the Federal Government鈥檚 initiative to transform Federal Science Colleges into Vocational Technical Institutions with free tuition- a meaningful step towards empowering our youth and addressing unemployment.
