Coronation Street star Farrel Hegarty has been documenting her travels to the other side of the world, having seemingly finished filming for the long-running show. The actress and TikTok star made her Weatherfield debut back in February as Lou Michaelis and was quickly followed onto the street by her husband Mick, played by Joe Layton. Mick and Lou moved into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown’s house, which is the first time ever Corrie has extended the serial drama across the ginnel, and the pair wasted no time in ruffling feathers as the street’s new ‘nightmare neighbours’. The drama involving the pair hasn’t stopped and Lou is now facing the wrath of the Weatherfield residents after Mick brutally killed PC Craig Tinker while in the line of duty. But it hasn’t been a secret that Mick and Lou’s name in Weatherfield would be short-lived. A Corrie spokesperson previously said “Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer and they are already making their presence felt. “Joe and Farrel were contracted for a specific length of time, some characters come in for a long time and some like Mick and Lou are brought to pass through and leave a trail of destruction behind them. Both actors are still filming with the show and will be on screen until the summer.” While Mick is behind bars, Lou is still trying to make ends meet for herself and her three children on the cobbles. It’s not clear how Lou will eventually leave but Farrel is already busy. Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (June 25), she revealed that she was flying to Australia to reunite with her partner. She previously revealed that she almost moved out of the country before landing a dream role in the long-running show. Alongside a selfie taken in a lift as she headed to the airport, Farrel said: “One cancelled flight and two days later… But I’m officially en-route. Let’s go Sydney. See you in about 37hrs @triciastone (that’s nowt to us).” She then posted updates during her journey through the airport before eventually being seen on the plane. “In a bit,” she wrote as she smiled for a selfie from her seat. Farrel previously rold how when the Corrie audition came, she was about to leave her home in London to move Down Under and live with her girlfriend of 18 months. Farrel, who was already pals with Corrie’s Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding, told the Mirror: “I was about to move to Australia to move in with my partner and the audition came up. “Either way, my life was about to go in a different direction, as I knew I鈥檇 either be going to Australia or joining Coronation Street. I knew if I got the role, then it was my time. “Having a long-distance relationship is definitely not for the faint-hearted but my partner was never going to be angry that I was going to be in Corrie. She knows how much it meant to me and how tough it has been.”
