As per the report, the data of any individual can be purchased from a Telegram bot. Without any further delay, let’s take a deep dive into the story. Your Data Is Out In the Open Up For Grabs At Rs 99 So, one of the reporters from Digit found a Telegram bot which claims to extract any details through a mobile number. The bot was hiding the information as it was asking the reporter to pay first to access the data. After further conversation, it was revealed that the Telegram bot has a complete rate card. The bot asked for a payment of Rs 99 is demanded for each search. The price of the plan goes up to Rs 4,999 per month based on the amount and sensitivity of the information. To know more, the reporter purchased the Rs 2,499 plan and tried to verify his number. As a result, he got all his details accurate to the core which was more than shocking. The bot also gave the Aadhaar number of the user. In some cases, the bot even provides voter ID and PAN card details. The experiment was then conducted with multiple phone numbers and the results were accurate every time. The incident reveals that our data is not safe anywhere and is available in one way or the other. The data used by the bot is probably stored on the dark web. If any wrong person gets the hang of this bot then the data can be misused in a lot of ways. These kinds of issues can be only curbed if the government gets serious about solving them.
