Wrexham face a daunting start as they gear up to compete at Championship level for the first time in 43 years. The EFL has unveiled the full fixture list for the 2025-26 season. It includes a blockbuster start for the North Wales outfit. They will commence their campaign with an away match against relegated Southampton on August 9 in a 12:30pm kick-off. The Saints are among the bookmakers’ favourites to clinch the Championship title, alongside Ipswich Town and Sheffield United. Wrexham, under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, will then host West Bromwich Albion on August 16 as they aim to make their mark in the second tier. The Red Dragons, fresh from their third successive promotion, face some tough away challenges in the first half of the season with matches against the two other relegated sides, Leicester City on September 30 and Ipswich on November 22. The first eagerly-awaited Welsh derby of the season will see them travel to Swansea City on December 20. Hosting Sheffield United on Boxing Day and an away match at Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Day are the standout games in Wrexham’s festive programme. A testing end to the season awaits, with clashes against West Brom , Southampton, Birmingham, Stoke and Coventry in April, before a final home game against Middlesbrough on May 2.
