Police are stepping up their hunt for a serial firebomber who detectives believe is a 鈥渇reelance鈥 criminal hired by organised crime groups.
The same firebug targeting two Sydney businesses more than 100 kilometres and nine months apart.
Footage captured the moment of an explosion at Vietnamese restaurant Eat Pho on Tuohy Lane in Marrickville in May.
Cameras were rolling as the man pulled up, set a trail then, then set fire to the shop.

鈥(It鈥檚) so scary, I can鈥檛 believe he can do this. So scary,鈥 Eat Pho staff Rita Duong said.
鈥淚t鈥檚 very dangerous for our restaurant.鈥
The attack is also being linked to another blaze at Ettalong Beach last August 鈥 a tobacconist that was destroyed in a matter of minutes.
鈥淲e believe the tobacconist was targeted to eliminate competition,鈥 Financial Crimes Squad Commander Gordon Arbinja said.
The Financial Crime Squad is currently investigating why the same arsonist struck a Vietnamese restaurant located 100 kilometers away, nine months after the initial incident.
9News spoke to the owner of the Marrickville business, who now says he has serious fears for his family鈥檚 safety
He says he doesn鈥檛 know why his shop has been caught in the firing line.
鈥淥ur belief is that these individuals are hired by organized criminal groups and operate as freelancers for these networks to carry out such acts,鈥 stated Arbinja.
The arsonist was last spotted in a grey Toyota Hilux.
