man, arriving at fort kent must’ve been a little bit of a damp squib. other than some umaine campus outpost buildings and a post office, there isn’t much, as the state is pretty empty above the coast. beautiful country up there, but desolate as hell.

Thru-hiking is the act of hiking an established long-distance trail from end to end without breaks. Doug Foos, a seasoned thru-hiker, has spent the last six months on foot, carrying only the essentials to complete his hike from Key Largo, Florida to Fort Kent, Maine.
