Seven senior faculty from Sharnbasva University selected for advanced training at IITs under CEEE programme

Seven senior faculty members from the departments of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Co-Education), formerly known as the Appa Institute of Engineering and Technology, Sharnbasva University, have been selected for a five-week training programme under the Centre for Engineering Education Excellence (CEEE) at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Bombay and Kanpur.

Shivkumar Jawaligi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (Co-Education), announced that the selection was communicated by the CEEE. The high-level training, supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), aims to enhance pedagogical and innovative teaching skills.

Five faculty members from the Mechanical Engineering Department – Sharan Shegedar (Head of Department), Shivakumar Rachoti, Santosh Balagar, Prashant Mulage, and Sharankumar B – have been selected for the training at IIT Kanpur.

Two faculty members from the Civil Engineering Department – Gajendra H. and Chandrakant – will attend the training at IIT Bombay.

Each selected faculty member has been awarded a stipend of ₹50,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and daily expenses.

The Mechanical Engineering faculty will receive training in Mechanical, Aerospace, and Energy Engineering, while the Civil Engineering faculty will be trained in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The sessions will be conducted by distinguished IIT professors and subject matter experts from leading academic institutions.

The programme will follow a hybrid model, comprising two weeks of on-site training and an additional two to three weeks of virtual sessions. Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a certificate.

Mr. Jawaligi highlighted that the CEEE is a joint initiative of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and the Infosys Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. It is run in collaboration with AICTE and IITs with the vision of transforming engineering education in line with India’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ mission.

The programme focuses on equipping faculty with modern teaching methods, improving the delivery of core engineering subjects, and enhancing employability among engineering graduates.
