Zhuhai launches cross-border real estate registration for Macau residents

Zhuhai is simplifying property transactions for Macau and Hong Kong residents with a new cross-border real estate registration system set to launch July 1. This initiative enables residents to register property in Zhuhai without needing to travel to the city.

Announced by Zhuhai officials on Tuesday, the system introduces three new registration standards designed to simplify and accelerate property dealings.

Key services include 鈥渮ero exit鈥 processing, which enables residents to apply for property registration at designated bank branches (11 in Macau and four in Hong Kong), eliminating the need for a 鈥減hysical presence鈥 in Zhuhai.

Identity verification can now be completed online via the 鈥淶huhai Real Estate鈥 WeChat public account, allowing users to self-register remotely.

The program also offers exclusive services for developments such as the Macau New Neighborhood in Hengqin, including online contract signing and simultaneous deed issuance.

Liu Weidong, deputy director of the Zhuhai Real Estate Registration Centre, highlighted the benefits of the new cross-border model at a recent press conference.

鈥淭his system breaks down geographical and bureaucratic barriers, achieving high standards of quality and efficiency in permanent registration services across the province and nationwide,鈥 Liu said. He added that the initiative supports property purchases, residency applications, and development opportunities for residents of Hong Kong and Macau.

The system facilitates high-frequency services such as mortgage registration and second-hand housing transfers with a 鈥渙ne-stop service, one-time application, no customs processing鈥 approach, truly achieving 鈥渮ero movement鈥 for buyers in Zhuhai, added Liu.

Since its trial phase, the system has processed 6,156 cross-border mortgage registrations totaling RMB76.2 billion, over 1,000 online new-home purchases, and more than 4,000 identity verifications, according to mainland media reports.

The model has gained recognition within the Guangdong Free Trade Zone and is being promoted across the province.

Zhuhai has also expanded cross-provincial real estate registration services to 74 cities in 28 provinces, further enhancing accessibility for property buyers nationwide.
