THE Erongo Regional Council will host the Uis Investment Conference in Swakopmund on Friday, 27 June 2025.
鈥淭he Erongo Region has seven constituencies, and Daures is actually the seventh constituency. If you look at the region鈥檚 history, the other six constituencies each have more than one town. Daures Constituency does not have a town, which presents a great opportunity to advocate for the elevation of Uis settlement to local authority status so that it can better meet the needs of its residents. This is precisely why we are hosting the investment conference 鈥 to attract investments,鈥 said Dr Mupenzeni Ntelamo, Chief Regional Officer of the Erongo Regional Council.
He explained that Swakopmund was chosen as the venue because it is the capital of the Erongo Region and has the necessary infrastructure to successfully host the event. He added that while Uis remains underdeveloped compared to other parts of the region, the conference aims to change that by attracting investor interest.
Joram K. !Haoseb, Councillor of Daures Constituency, emphasised the constituency鈥檚 investment potential 鈥 particularly in the mining sector 鈥 due to its abundance of natural resources.
鈥淲e in Daures Constituency are truly blessed with the natural resources in and around Uis. Remember, the only currently operational green hydrogen project in the country is in Daures Constituency,鈥 he said.
He also called for investment in retail and banking, citing Uis鈥 growing population and the resulting need for expanded commercial services. Additionally, !Haoseb highlighted opportunities in agriculture and property development, noting that the area offers ample land suitable for crop farming and an increasing demand for housing.
鈥淭ourism is another key sector, as the highest mountain in Namibia is actually only about 30 minutes from Uis,鈥 !Haoseb added.
