Having grown up in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, and after a short period in Los Angeles, Ava has returned to the bustling city to concentrate on her modeling career, with the unwavering support of her parents. Ava offered an intimate look into her strong bond with her father, music mogul Damon Dash, during Episode 4 of Next Gen NYC.

鈥淢y dad definitely wants to know exactly what鈥檚 going on in my life,鈥 she revealed in the June 24 episode. She expressed no hesitation in discussing her relationships and friendships with him, saying, 鈥淗onestly, it鈥檚 so fun. Giving tea to someone who is sat.鈥

Subsequently, Ava invited her friend Brooks Marks and his father, Seth Marks from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, to join her and Damon at a golf event in the Bronx, organized for a group of educators.

鈥淭he OSG is hundreds of principals from economically challenged places,鈥 Damon explained. 鈥淎nd what I鈥檝e done is taught them entrepreneurship.鈥

Ava shared more on how her father is an 鈥渆ntrepreneur,鈥 explaining, 鈥淗e cofounded Rock-A-Fella Records and Rocawear.鈥

Roc-A-Fella Records was launched by Damon, Jay-Z and Kareem 鈥淏iggs鈥 Burke in 1994.

In 1999, Damon and Jay-Z also launched a clothing brand together called Rocawear Clothing Company鈥攁nd it became a family business for Damon.

鈥淲hen I was like four years old, I was in the Rocawear campaigns,鈥 Ava shared during Next Gen NYC.

Damon ended up selling his stake in the company in 2005, but the move into fashion still had a big impact on Ava.

Ava Dash reveals how mom Rachel Roy influenced her career

Ava was also influenced by her mother, fashion designer Rachel Roy, who launched her 鈥渞eady-to-wear and accessories business into a globally recognized brand鈥 in 2004, according to her website.

鈥淲ith my mom being a fashion designer, fashion has always been a part of my life,鈥 Ava shared in the episode.

Even her godfather, the late Andr茅 Leon Talley, was part of her fashion aspirations. Talley was editor-at-large of Vogue magazine for years and was also its first African American male creative director from 1988 to 1995.

鈥淲e call him 鈥楩ashion鈥檚 Godfather,鈥 too,鈥 Ava said.
