The Office of the Mayor in Arandis has launched a 鈥楬oliday School of Excellence鈥, an initiative designed to foster academic excellence and youth development within the community. The programme specifically targets Grade 10, 11, and AS-level learners.
According to the Arandis Town Council, this initiative comes at a crucial time as students prepare for mid-year assessments and national examinations. The Council stated that the Holiday School of Excellence reflects a strong commitment to education, recognizing it as the fundamental basis for community empowerment.
鈥淭he holiday school, currently in full swing at Kolin Foundation Secondary School, is facilitated by a team of dedicated and experienced lecturers from Grand Tutorial College, with campuses based in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. The programme offers intensive academic support across key subjects, ensuring learners receive the guidance and reinforcement they need outside of regular classroom hours,鈥 they added.
One of the Learner Representative Council (LRC), Oswaldo Hoeseb, said they are really pleased with the classes, and the content is well presented and easy to understand. 鈥淚t is helping us improve and build confidence in our studies,鈥 he added.
The Council further said that the initiative is made possible through the support of Rossing Uranium and MES Equipment, who have stepped in not only to support educational materials but also to ensure that learners are fed and cared for during the programme. 鈥淭heir contribution underlines the importance off public private partnerships in advancing community development and youth upliftment,鈥 they emphasised.
Mayor of Arandis, Barnabas Kambara, said education is the key to a brighter future and urged learners to grab opportunities like this with both hands. 鈥淵ou must also take part in the upcoming Clean-Up Campaign, because maintaining a clean and hygienic environment goes hand in hand with academic success,鈥 he added.
The Council said the Holiday School of Excellence stands as a shining example of what collaboration, vision, and care for the youth can achieve. 鈥淲ith continued commitment, Arandis is poised to cultivate not only top-performing learners but also socially responsible young leaders of tomorrow,鈥 they concluded.
