As part of efforts to deepen global healthcare cooperation, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, held talks with Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, a leading super-specialty healthcare services provider in the MENA region. The discussions took place in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Egypt. Held at the Ministry鈥檚 headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, the strategic conversation focused on Burjeel Holdings鈥 operations and management of the bone marrow transplant unit at Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital in Cairo. Talks also covered advancing investment opportunities and developing sustainable partnerships across Egypt鈥檚 healthcare ecosystem.Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar noted that the partnership with UAE-based Burjeel Holdings to manage the bone marrow transplant unit at Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital aligns with the Ministry of Health and Population鈥檚 efforts to advance bone marrow transplantation and targeted immunotherapy services in Egypt. It also supports the broader goals of enhancing healthcare investment, boosting medical tourism, and delivering high-quality services. The Minister emphasized that this collaboration would help eliminate bone marrow transplant waiting lists by expanding capacity beyond Sheikh Zayed Hospital. The number of transplant beds across the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers will rise from 44 (27 at Nasser Institute and 17 at Zayed) to 100 by the end of 2025, with the addition of 11 beds at Zayed, 5 at Sohag Oncology Center, and 40 at Agouza Hospital.鈥淭he cooperation with Burjeel Holdings contributes to the implementation of the National Bone Marrow Transplant Registry project,鈥 added Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. .During the meeting, Dr. Shamsheer highlighted that cooperation with the Egyptian government represents an opportunity to position Egypt as a regional center for bone marrow transplantation and targeted immunotherapy by leveraging its expertise in medical tourism, Egypt鈥檚 strategic location, and competitive costs to attract patients from various countries.The meeting also examined cooperation in oncology, particularly bone marrow transplantation. Burjeel Holdings, which operates Burjeel Cancer Institue (BCI), one of the UAE鈥檚 leading cancer care networks, expressed interest in bringing its expertise to Egypt. The Minister welcomed plans to establish advanced bone marrow transplantation centers in Egypt and voiced support for future collaboration in the fields of sports medicine and post-injury rehabilitation.Discussions also explored avenues of cooperation in medical training, capacity-building, and knowledge exchange through scientific conferences and professional development initiatives. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening clinical research, localizing pharmaceutical and serum production, and supporting the manufacturing of medical devices in Egypt.Dr. Shamsheer thanked the Minister for supporting investment opportunities in Egypt and emphasized the Group鈥檚 commitment to expanding its presence in MENA region through strategic partnerships.鈥淥ur goals closely align with Egypt鈥檚 national healthcare priorities, particularly its vision to become a regional center of excellence in oncology and bone marrow transplantation.
