Panchayat Season 4 Ending Explained: How Jitendra Kumar Show Sets Stage For S5 And What To Expect Next

Panchayat 4, starring Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav, opened to mixed reviews on Amazon Prime Video on June 24. While some lauded it for keeping the show’s trademark simplicity intact, others criticised it for not quite living up to expectations, particularly when it came to capturing the emotional essence of Phulera, which many felt got overshadowed by the heavy focus on politics due to the Panchayat elections. Some viewers also hoped for a different conclusion. So, what exactly went down in the final episode? Let鈥檚 unpack it. Spoiler alert ahead! Panchayat Season 4 Ending Explained: First things first, a quick cast rundown: Jitendra Kumar returns as Abhishek Tripathi (Sachiv Ji), alongside Neena Gupta as Manju Devi (the Pradhan) and Raghubir Yadav as Brij Bhushan Dubey (Pradhan Ji). The ensemble also includes Faisal Malik as Deputy Pradhan Prahlad Pandey, Chandan Roy as Office Assistant Vikas Shukla, and Tripti Sahu as Khushboo, Vikas鈥 wife. Sanvikaa plays Rinki Dubey (Pradhan Ji and Manju Devi’s daughter), Durgesh Kumar appears as Bhushan (famously known as Banrakas), and Sunita Rajwar portrays Kranti Devi, Bhushan鈥檚 wife. Ashok Pathak steps in as Binod, Bulloo Kumar essays the role of Madhav (Bhushan’s two strong supporters), and Pankaj Jha plays the manipulative MLA Chandrakishore Singh. Transition from Season 3 to Season 4: Season 3 ended on a darker, more intense note, with violence and gunshots disrupting the calmness of Phulera. Season 4 picks up right from that turning point, showing us the aftermath. In the final episode, we see a visibly anxious Abhishek Tripathi asking Rinki to check his MBA entrance exam result. Within moments, she excitedly reveals that he has scored a 97 percentile, almost guaranteeing him admission into a decent B-school. What follows is a quiet celebration – Pradhan Ji, Vikas, and Prahlad drop by Abhishek鈥檚 office for a modest party to toast his achievement. The next day brings a tender conversation between Rinki and Abhishek. Rinki is clearly emotional and shares her sorrow over the possibility of him leaving Phulera. Abhishek tries to console her, explaining that the process will take time with GDs, interviews, and several formalities still ahead. In the process, the two gently confess their feelings for each other. In a lighter subplot, Rinki ends up in a squabble with Chandrakishore Singh鈥檚 daughter over two kachoris, both claiming ownership. It鈥檚 Abhishek and Chuttan ( played by Gaurav Singh, close to Chandrakishore) who intervene, diffusing the situation and ultimately walking away without taking the snacks, putting an end to the tussle. Meanwhile, Bhushan and Kranti Devi visit Chandrakishore, who is still emotional about losing his beloved horse, Sitara. Bhushan promises to return Sitara, and Kranti Devi assures that it will happen once they receive 鈥済ood news鈥 from the counting centre. At the same time, Binod and Madhav are shown discussing how a win might change things for them. When Vikas and Prahlad arrive, Binod curiously asks Prahlad how it feels to potentially become the new Up-Pradhan. Suddenly, Bhushan calls Binod and delivers the news – they鈥檝e won the election by 73 votes. An overwhelmed Binod breaks down in tears, passing the news to the others around. A heartbroken Prahlad then informs Pradhan Ji, who is left stunned and shaken. In the next few moments, he lights a cigarette and says, 鈥淗amara dabdaba tha, hai, aur lagbhag hamesha rahega.鈥 Soon after, we see the nameplate being changed – Bhushan replaces Manju Devi as the new Pradhan. Bhushan then turns to Sachiv Ji and asks whether his name will remain on the office door. Abhishek calmly replies, saying it鈥檒l stay for at least the next 3鈥4 months. Where Does That Leave Us? The season concludes on a cliffhanger, with several questions hanging in the air. Will Abhishek actually leave Phulera to pursue his MBA? If he does, what happens to his budding relationship with Rinki? Will he confide in Manju Devi, Pradhan Ji, or even his own family about his future plans? Season 5 might also explore whether Manju Devi can stage a political comeback. Judging by Pradhan Ji鈥檚 final line, it seems likely they aren鈥檛 backing down without a fight. Another major thread could be Prahlad鈥檚 potential entry into MLA politics. And while there hasn鈥檛 been an official announcement about Season 5, Sanvikaa did confirm in an interview with OTT Play that it鈥檚 happening. She said, “The process for Panchayat Season 5 has begun, and hopefully, maybe by mid-next year or sometime in next year, it will be released. And we are likely to begin the shoot for season 5, maybe at the end of this year or next year, so writing has started. So once the writing is done, we will start shooting.” Have you watched the show yet? Let us know your thoughts at @TimesNow!
