Solar Rooftops and Pumps Present Growth Opportunities for MSMEs in India and Africa: ISA

New Delhi, Aug 25 (KNN) Ashish Khanna, Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), highlighted significant prospects for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India and Africa through solar rooftop installations and solar pumps.

Speaking at an event organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Khanna emphasised the transformative potential of these technologies for local businesses, reported ET.

In India, the adoption of solar pumps has seen a substantial increase, with approximately 2 million units installed. The government plans to expand this number to 5 million, aiming to reduce farmers' reliance on diesel and lower operational costs.

Each solar pump, costing around Rs 8 lakh (approximately USD 10,000), represents a significant business opportunity, especially in rural areas where such infrastructure can enhance agricultural productivity and economic stability.
