In a candid interview given just three months before his death, Sunjay Kapur opened up about his vision for life, including a long-term personal roadmap, his dedication to health and sport, and most notably, his hopes for a close-knit blended family. The conversation featured on the Indian Silicon Valley podcast now serves as a reminder of the values he cherished most.
鈥淚t鈥檚 important that we build a unit. We come from a blended family, so it鈥檚 not always easy. But we鈥檝e been very fortunate to have a system where we all work together, where we love each other. And I want that to continue even after my wife and I鈥檚 lifetime,鈥 he had said.
Sunjay Kapur and Karisma Kapoor were married from 2003 until 2016. The couple shared two children 鈥 daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. The late entrepreneur had spoken of how essential it was for their children to grow up in a loving, unified environment, even after separation and divorce.
Describing how he envisioned life beyond his corporate role, the chairman of Sona Comstar shared details of a structured ten-year lifestyle plan 鈥 centered around fitness, family, and personal fulfillment.
鈥淚鈥檓 great planner. In October, I wrote down a 10-year plan for myself; not goals, but things I will focus on. Whether it鈥檚 work engagements or non-work engagements. There are a lot of non-work commitments that I have. I鈥檓 very clear about what I will do and what I will not do. Sport is very important to me, health and fitness is very important to me. I play active polo, I run a team. I play as often as I can. However, what鈥檚 also important to me is that I give back to my family. When I drew up my 10-year plan, I actually wrote down the broad strokes of work-related and non-work related, foundation-related鈥 I fleshed out 2025 to define what I will do. I鈥檓 not the sort of person who can sit around without a packed schedule. It鈥檚 a great luxury to be the master of your own time.鈥
