Why This Bengaluru Migrant Calls Hyderabad 'Friendly, Yet Full Of Scammers & Rude Cops'

Bengaluru: After shifting from Bengaluru to Hyderabad for a new job a month ago, a young professional has shared their honest impressions of the city so far. From friendly people to tough traffic, the experience has been a mixed bag of surprises. According to the Reddit user, about 80% of the people in Hyderabad are kind and welcoming. Language is not a problem — even without knowing Telugu, locals often speak in Hindi or English, making communication easy. The infrastructure, especially in and around Hitech City, was described as excellent. The main roads are wide, clean, and well-maintained. The person also appreciated the city’s layout, saying that buildings have enough space between them and most homes get natural sunlight. ” Eighty per cent of the people are excellent and friendly. There is no language barrier, even if you don’t know Telugu, they speak to you in Hindi or English. The infrastructure is excellent in the Hitech City and surrounding areas, the primary/main roads are wide and neat.Food is Tasty and a bit spicy for my taste,” the post read. Food in Hyderabad was praised for its taste, though it’s spicier than they’re used to. Traffic during non-peak hours was said to be calm and manageable, especially when compared to Bengaluru’s constant jams. One quirky observation — many locals seem to love wearing gold ornaments. However, the techie also pointed out several downsides. Food at restaurants is expensive, and in many places, the quantity felt less than expected. Rent in some areas is very high — higher even than Bengaluru — with a 1 BHK furnished flat costing ₹30,000, not including water or electricity. One of the biggest complaints was about road safety. The person described Hyderabad’s driving culture as chaotic, with vehicles coming from all directions and little concern for rules. They also mentioned spotting many unregistered or number plate-less vehicles and suspected it might be to avoid paying road tax. ” A lot of unregistered vehicles or missing number plates. Not sure if this is done to avoid road tax. Police people are a bit rude (I had only one interaction so far). The water issue is more serious than in Bangalore,” the post further read. Scams in and around Hitech City were noted as a concern. The individual also had one unpleasant experience with the police, describing them as rude. Water issues were said to be more severe in Hyderabad compared to Bengaluru. In addition, the public transport system was criticised for being poorly developed and not very helpful for daily commuting.
