Report into lost or damaged bins to be debated by North Lanarkshire councillors

A report on how North Lanarkshire Council deals with people whose bins are lost or damaged during collection will be prepared for consideration by councillors. At a full meeting of the council, members supported a motion from Councillors Allan Stubbs (SNP, Coatbridge North) and Margaret Hughes (SNP, Fortissat) on this issue which called for examination of communication with residents and replacement times for lost bins, together with any improvements which could potentially be made. This report would be brought before the council鈥檚 environment and climate change committee. Moving, Councillor Stubbs said all councillors would have either been personally affected by problems or contacted by constituents as it was an 鈥渆veryday occurrence鈥. 鈥淭his motion simply calls for a look at how we communicate with our residents. The ideal situation in my opinion is that if it can be established exactly which door the bin belongs to we can put something through the door to say, because otherwise they come home and just find their bin isn鈥檛 there.鈥 Describing the process of obtaining a new bin as 鈥渃lunky鈥, Councillor Stubbs said the council website attempted to charge residents and asked if they had been notified of the issue, even though nobody was contacted. The motion was carried unopposed. *Don’t miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire. Sign up to our newsletters here . And did you know Lanarkshire Live had its own app?
