St. Croix’s Michael Dizon-Bumann claimed the Elite division title in the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation’s “Riding To The Rings” Time Trial, held Sunday morning to commemorate Olympic Day.
Dizon-Bumann finished the 13-mile course in 34 minutes, 21 seconds. Dizon-Bumann’s father, Robert Bumann, holds the course record (32:50).
Dizon-Bumann, a rising senior on Cornell University’s men’s track and field team, finished 24 seconds ahead of Stephen Swanton, who was second in 34:45, with Alex Betancourt third in 37:07. Robin Seila was the Elite division’s top female finisher, coming in fourth overall in 38:35.
The top finishers in the other divisions were:
• In the Expert division, James Bates took top honors, completing the 13-mile course in 39:58. Scott Marusa was second in 42:17, with Guy Augustin third in 42:36.
• In the Sport division, Tarik McMillan won the division with a time of 48:13 over the 13-mile course. Joseph Bramble was second in 49:30, with Yves Abraham third in 50:13.
• In the Masters division, Troy Holloway claimed the top prize, finishing the 13 miles in 43:05. Ralph Bartlett was second in 45:15, with Brian O’Reilly third in 55:49.
• In the Women’s division, Enid Francis won by finishing the 13-mile course in 54:54. Judy Gario was second in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 6 seconds.
The next event on the VICF’s 2025 race schedule is the upcoming Buddhoe and Beyond Road Race, scheduled for Sunday, July 6.
This year’s race, which begins at 7 a.m., will take place on the VICF’s alternate “Donald Course,” starting at Ha’Penny Beach due to unsuitable conditions on the regular race course. For more information, call 340-643-5050.
