In a shocking incident, a woman patient was allegedly sexually assaulted by co-male patient in the same ward at a government hospital in northeast Delhi on Monday.
According to a senior police officer, the incident was reported at Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital where a a 23-year-old male patient allegedly sexually abused a woman patient.
According to the Police, the accused man, identified as Mohd Faiz, who is a resident of Kachchi Khajuri, was admitted to the same ward as the victim.
鈥淥n reaching the spot, it was found that a female patient admitted inside Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital (JPC) was sexually assaulted by another patient admitted in the same ward,鈥 the senior police officer said in a statement.
Following the initial probe and statements from the victim, hospital staff, and other possible witnesses, a formal case was registered under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to sexual assault.
The police confirmed that the accused was taken into custody shortly after the case was filed.
In a separate incident that occurred earlier this month in Delhi, a minor girl died after being sexually assaulted. Delhi Police said that she received severe injuries to her face during the assault.
Police said they received a call regarding the sexual assault of a minor on June 7 at 8:41 pm at Dayalpur police station.
The girl was brought to JPC Hospital by her father in an unconscious state, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
A case has been registered under sections 103(1), 66, and 13(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Teams have also been deployed to collect evidence and trace the accused.
