In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, you are going to go through a lot of items. Healing items, combat items, random quest items, and construction items. Some you will never see again, others will leave behind a “used” variant to take up space in your inventory. It is tempting to just throw them away, but don’t. There is a better option.
What to do with used items in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
If you are not badly in need of the cargo space, the best option to take is a bit of recycling. Bring the used items to a terminal at a base and then open the Private Locker Management section. You will be able to see all items in your locker, backpack, and attached to your suit here. Anything that has been used will be marked with a red “Used” in brackets.
Click on the item that you don’t want anymore and then select the Recycle option at the bottom. This will bring up a screen that shows you what materials you will get back from recycling them. You can get Chrial Crystals, Resins, Metals, Ceramics, Chemicals, and Special Alloys, depending on what you recycle.
All these can then be used in the fabrication of other items that you will need. The only time to think about storing the item instead of recycling it is if it will give you back a material that you have a maxed-out supply of. If that happens, just back out and store the item in the base storage.
