Indigo Halts Middle East Flights Amid Rising Tensions, Assures Safety First

IndiGo, India鈥檚 leading airline, has issued a travel advisory following rising tensions in the Middle East. The airline has temporarily suspended operations to and from several cities in the region as a precautionary safety measure.
Flights to and from Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Madinah, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Sharjah, Riyadh, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Tbilisi were suspended until at least 10:00 am on Tuesday, as per TOI.
IndiGo stated, 鈥淲e understand this may disrupt your travel plans and sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. This decision has been taken purely in the interest of passenger and crew safety.鈥
Safe Routes Under Review
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo said it is 鈥減rudently and progressively resuming operations鈥 as airports across the Middle East begin to reopen. The airline is carefully evaluating the safest available air routes to ensure secure and smooth travel for its passengers.
鈥淲e continue to monitor the situation closely and will adjust flight paths accordingly,鈥 the statement added.

What Passengers Should Do
IndiGo has advised customers to:

Check flight status on the IndiGo website or mobile app
Update contact details for timely alerts
Explore rebooking or full refund options online

The airline confirmed that it remains in constant contact with aviation authorities and will resume services once safe flying conditions are confirmed.
The Reason Behind the Advisory
This move comes after Iran launched retaliatory strikes on a US military base in Qatar. The attack followed American support for Israel and its recent assault on Iranian nuclear sites. According to Iranian officials, the same number of bombs were used in retaliation as in the original attack.
Iran鈥檚 top security body emphasised that the strike was away from civilian areas and posed no threat to its neighbour, Qatar, which it referred to as a 鈥渇riendly and brotherly鈥 nation.
IndiGo鈥檚 swift response highlights its focus on safety and readiness in the face of global tensions.
