NOA to host national summit in Abuja, hosts awards, outreach activities

The Nigeria Olympian Association (NOA) has announced that it will host its National Summit from July 22 to 24 at the Zeus Paradise Hotel in Mabushi, Abuja.

The three-day gathering will bring together past and present Olympians to deliberate on the future of sports development in Nigeria.

The summit aims to foster collaboration, exchange experiences, and develop actionable solutions to the challenges faced by athletes in the country.

According to NOA President and former national basketball captain, Olumide Oyedeji, the summit will include a statutory congress on July 23, in line with the association鈥檚 constitution. Key resolutions guiding the organisation鈥檚 future operations are expected to be adopted during the session.

A major highlight of the summit will be the Dinner and Awards Night on July 24, themed 鈥淭he Labours of Our Heroes Past.鈥

The event will celebrate the achievements of distinguished Olympians and honour their families, while also recognising administrators who have advanced the Olympic spirit, youth engagement, and sports development in Nigeria.

Notable past honourees include former Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Sunday Dare; President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr Habu Gumel; and former Edo State Deputy Governor and current Director General of the National Institute for Sports, Philip Shaibu.

In a show of social responsibility, the NOA will also carry out a humanitarian outreach during the summit, visiting selected orphanages in Abuja to offer support and give back to the community.
