Verdict in two May 9 riots cases reserved

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday reserved its verdict in two cases related to May 9 riots — the Shadman police station attack and burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House — after completing proceedings at Kot Lakhpat jail.

ATC-I Judge Manzer Ali Gill would announce the judgments on Aug 11 (tomorrow).

The judge concluded the hearings inside jail in two sessions during the whole day.

Prominent PTI leaders, including former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mehmoodur Rashid are among the accused in these cases.

During the Saturday’s hearing, the accused recorded their statements under section 342 of Cr.P.C besides the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments.
