Nissan closes its Oppama plant in Japan to cut costs

Nissan will shut down its main Oppama factory in Japan to reduce expenses. Production will shift to Nissan Motor Kyushu by March 2028. The Oppama plant, a symbol for Nissan, once produced the Leaf electric car. CEO Ivan Espinosa assures fair treatment for the 2,400 employees. This move is part of Nissan’s restructuring to improve profitability.
