97th death anniversary of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das observed on Odisha Assembly premises

On the occasion of the 97th death anniversary of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das a tribute ceremony was held at the Odisha Legislative Assembly premises in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi paid floral tributes at the statue of Gopabandhu Das and reminisced about his contributions to society.
Speaking on the occasion CM Majhi lauded Gopabandhursquos selfless service and immense contribution to the community urging everyone to follow the noble path shown by the legendary leader.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including Speaker Surama Padhy Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo and Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari among others.

Legacy of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das
Notably Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das 1877-1928 was a prominent social reformer freedom fighter journalist and litterateur from Odisha. He was a key figure in the Indian independence movement and is highly revered in Odisha. He was given the title Utkalamani meaning Jewel of Utkal.
Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das also played a significant role in establishing press freedom in Odisha. Gopabandhu Das legacy continues to inspire people in Odisha and beyond. His dedication to social justice education and the freedom movement has made him a true Jewel of Utkal.
