In keeping with the government鈥檚 ongoing commitment to improving access to quality technical and vocational education across Guyana, particularly in hinterland communities, President Irfaan Ali accompanied by Minister of Education Priya Manickchand commissioned the St Ignatius Practical Instruction Department (PID) in Lethem, Region Nine, a Ministry of Education release stated.
It informed that the St Ignatius PID was established through the Guyana Skills Development and Employability Project, which is funded by a US$11.7 million loan from the Caribbean Development Bank and supported by the Government of Guyana. It will offer Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Level 1 and Level 2 certification in five priority sectors: 1) tourism and hospitality, 2) construction, 3) information and communication technology, 4) agriculture, and 5) business.
