Amethi, Jun 30 (PTI) Eighteen devotees, including 12 women, were injured on Monday when a pickup vehicle carrying them fell into a canal near Panhauna village in Shivratanganj police station area here, police said.
According to officials, the devotees from Barkot village under Mohanganj police station limits were on their way to Ahorvan Bhawani temple for a religious visit when the incident occurred.
The vehicle reportedly lost control at a turn near Panhauna village and plunged into the canal.
All 18 passengers sustained injuries but no one is in critical condition, police said.
Shivratanganj Station House Officer (SHO) Vivek Kumar said, 鈥淭he pickup vehicle did not overturn but veered off the road and fell into the canal at a turn. All injured passengers have sustained minor injuries and are out of danger.鈥 The passengers were taken for first aid to the Shivratanganj Community Health Centre (CHC) where they are undergoing treatment, the officer added.
